Quick Observation

Skied the Crowfoot Couloir today in fun condition! Soft skiing with a supportive enough crust to make bootpacking easy in the middle. Some faceting near the upper cliff band made for some inefficient last few meters. No signs of instability were noted, although there was wind affect on the fans, however soft turns were still found! See snowpack tab for further details.

Snowpack

The first 10cm of the snowpack was powder riding on consolidated snow. About 30cm down there is a hard crust that is about 7cm thick and underlain by facets. 40cm there is another crust layer also on top of facets. Below this the snow appeared to be well consolidated however the very bottom of the snowpack is faceting as per usual. We did not conduct any observation point tests, however there were no signs of instability in the fans or couloir.
