Mt Brooks

Skied NE glades off Brooks. Good coverage and nice turns in heavy powder in the open trees. Coverage was incomplete in denser tree cover, including partially covered logs, bushes, streams, etc. Had a look at the base of the N ridge of Brooks where the new storm snow (~30cm) was quite wind affected. Some steep convex test slopes hesitantly released tiny stubborn wind slabs sliding on prior melt-freeze surface with almost no propagation. Weather was calm and clear, ~ -1C with light winds. Overall: early season conditions, but a spectacular day to be out. Good coverage in open areas. New snow and wind slabs at treeline seem to be bonding fairly quickly with warm conditions during and after the recent storm, but will still take a bit of time to settle out completely.
