Quick Observation
Went up the wrong valley (meant to do WAD) Snow was about mid calf to knee deep foot pen. Hiked past the lower climb and setup for lunch before climbing the top ice. 1st ice fall was nice, but loose due to the warming and the ice on the climbers right was a bit nasty for screws. But we top roped it, so no idea. Bring a 40-50m rope for a double tree anchor to top rope. The lower climb had no issues with exposure. 2nd: Sun came out and it got windy. Then all across the top, ice and snow and rocks started raining down so we bailed (before we started climbing). No one got hurt, but even standing well out of the obvious path of any falls, we still got snow (wet heavy chunks) from other less obvious places rolling through where we were sitting. Then a rock nearly hit us (I presume some snow had knocked it loose). The snow was wet and heavy mainly and it felt very much like spring conditions even in the sheltered areas that don’t get the sun. Was able to slide down the gully and out. I believe it was above freezing all day long. it was only when the sun and wind came out did we see any activity.
