Quick Observation
Nice and quiet day out in the Illecillewaet. The weather was mostly stable and warm on the glacier. Very little to no wind, mostly overcast with high clouds and good visibility, a few flurries here and there. It was a different story around us, we were just lucky to evade some ominous looking clouds and fog that hit most of the higher peaks around us. We heard from another group who attempted the traverse, but turned around because that it was an entirely different story as they got closer to Young. The skiing on the glacier was good all the way down. About 10cm ski pen and dry creamy spring powder. It got a bit heavier in the afternoon and started to get moist half way down the moraines. The top storm layer on the glacier crest moraine was starting to get reactive to ski cutting by the time we skied through (about 15cm of wet slop on crust ) We saw a few groups ski down Pearly rock, which also looked nice, with similar snow and weather. No large avalanche debris were trampled, hugged, scaled, scratched, climbed, ice picked, face planted on or hurt in any other way!
