Snowpack

We went to Silver Peak today to monitor snowpack conditions.  We found up to 4 to 6'' of remaining soft snow on wind protected northerly aspects above around 7000-7500'.  Near and below 7000', minimal soft snow existed with mostly firm surface crusts.  This soft snow existed on top of a previous firm surface crust that was present on all aspects and elevations in this area.  We saw evidence of previous wind scouring in most wind exposed locations with wind blown snow or scoured areas down to firm crusts.  We did not see any evidence of reactive wind slabs on our tour today.  Pole Creek Road continues to have adequate snow coverage for access to terrain above 7000' where more snow coverage exists.
