Quick report
We dug a pit around 7,700ft on a NE aspect around 1p. We had a CT failure at 21 (first from shoulder) about a foot down. When I pulled the block off, about a three inch layer separated from the bottom of the block and seemed to be a solid slab-like layer. The CT failed on the bottom of this layer but the top was clearly also susceptible to have a clean shear. We did an ECT with failure at the same location at 22 (second hit from shoulder) but no propagation even after the test when we hit it hard to see if we could get it to go. We observed faceted layers approximately 12-15in from top of snowpack as well as deeper down but those didn't seem to have any movement. Things seemed remarkably stable, given the forecast and new snow. We jumped on some roll overs with low consequence to try to get them to slide with no luck. We couldn't get the skin track cuts to break either.

Sun breaks in the morning with light breeze below ridgelines. Some snow flurries in and out started in the afternoon but the snow really rolled in around 3p and with it the wind kicked up. Signs of stronger wind on ridgelines and lighter wind below in Angell Basin/Hoffer Lake areas.
