Quick report
Road to Paradise was closed and restricted to admin traffic. Nordic Patrol went up to evaluate Myrtle Falls Bridge, Paradise Park, and Devil's Dip and keep it conservative in the trees. We stayed between 5000 and 5500ft elevation. Visibility a half mile throughout the day and low contrast conditions. A hand pit was dug next to Myrtle Falls bridge on an open, west aspect, low angled slope. The top couple of inches of new snow from Saturday evening to early Sunday morning came off loosely. Underneath that top layer was a storm slab layer (Friday/Saturday's precip) that came off cleanly in a block with one hand applying moderate pressure. The block measured about a foot and a half deep. Pole in pic for reference. We did not search for layers below than this. Winds were mild in the trees with few gusts. Around 2pm at Paradise base area, winds from the west began picking up in the open with precip also increasing, lowering visibility to only a couple hundred yards. Snow was coming down at Longmire by the time we left at 3pm. Unconsolidated snow from this weekend's storm made for moments of challenging travel in the trees around Devil's Dip.

Barely visible crown about 30ft long, a few inches deep on the new snow that occurred overnight and into the morning. Potentially triggered by snow on the rocky cliff above. 35 degree slope. Spot was shadowed by wind entire day.
