Attempted to dig down to the 2/7 persistent weak layers to find out if the of impact of rain on snowpack stability and was unable to identify the layer. It seems the percolating rain has reached the 2/7 crust and resulted in a significant change to the snowpack on mid elevation E-NE aspects. Several ski pole probes for the layer while skinning yielded the same results. Wind slabs were observed starting to form shortly after the transition between rain and snow at approximately noon. However transported snow quickly sticks to the saturated snow. On western aspects a thick crust that is difficult to break through on skis is beginning to form.
