Quick report
Performed two tree well rescues in the Elbow backcountry zone. One partial burial was able to be rescued under a minute, and one full burial required approximately 5 minutes and multiple responders. The full burial was nearly vertical and submerged completely, their partner was nearby but due to the snow depth wasn't able to reach the victim, they were able to flag us down and direct us to their partner. Under the circumstances the partner did nothing wrong, they stayed in line of sight and it would be difficult to ride any closer together but the snow was so deep it hamstrung their response. Thankfully after significant effort we extracted the person and they recovered, unknown total burial time, victim said they did have a pocket of air while being rescued. Due to deep unconsolidated snow the tree wells are extreme at this time.
