Quick report
Left Hyak around 1030 and toured up to see if the west bowl was protected from the wind. Wanted to see the effects of loading on a N/NW aspect and signs of instability from the persistent layer(s). Wind was pretty much directly east and impacting the east facing slopes significantly. Cross-loading was also an easily identifiable issue. Temps were quite chilly (-17 C at 4900 ft @ 1240). Dug a pit at the top of west bowl. 237 cm of snow, with 64 on top of the first identifiable crust (12/30). CTE-4 sluffed the first 10-20 cms of snow. CTH-14-Q3 (i.e. not a clean fracture) at the crustal inferface. Quite chopped up in Xmas Tree bowl, but still a beautiful day!
