Quick report
We saw many recent and older avalanches from the past few days. We observed a thick snowpack with shin-deep ski pen—no signs of instability besides the big, recent avalanches. I stood stunned, gazing at an almost 2-meter-thick snowpack that had formed in the last 13 days. It's getting harder to isolate those columns!
Snowpack
We dug on an east-facing slope at 9150' with HS around 175 cm. ECTNs on the upper 66 cm with no propagation on 12/5 facets. Our Cross PST was 53/155 END on the targeted 12/5 facets.
