It was nice to see single-digit temperatures today after the big freeze. We went up the Mt West trail to see how the storm from two days ago had affected the snowpack. We found the winds in the alpine had scrubbed things down to hardpack and rock. We ducked down to treeline and found windslabs similar to what we have been seeing throughout the Pine Pass area. We also saw a couple older avalanches that were a day or two old which made our terrain choices a little easier for us. We stayed off steeper open slopes. We found some good riding out of the wind and stayed on smaller slopes and low angled terrain
