CTM16P - a crack prorated across the column (65-70cm deep), completed the rest of the test with no further results. Followed with a hand shear test on the column and it immediately released on the weak layer. Dug another quick column to just below this weak layer and preformed a shovel shear test with an immediate release again of the whole block. The weak layer was made up of faceted snow. The rest of the colume was well bonded below down to 120cm. 1 finger resistant until the weak layer, 2 or more below. From a visual observation of the area, we had dug on a fairly large wind slab. We decided to move more to a SW aspect and call it a day. Test performed on an eastern aspect, 45-degree slope with open trees on the edge of smokers bowl.
