Today we rode Allan Creek. Visibility was low. It was snowing throughout the day with light winds coming from the south. We broke tracks in and broke tracks out at the end of the day. At 13:00 we performed a column test at 2600m on a west aspect. We saw a sudden collapse at 40cm (CTH2) and at 60cm (CTH5) on a facet/ surface hoar layer). We also performed an extended column test and saw full propagation at 60cm on the facet/ surface hoar layer. On our way out (16:00hrs) we observed a size 2 avalanche on an east facing slope at 2600m. It appeared to start on the storm Slab and step down to a persistent layer.
