Quick Observation

The skiing was very good at Paul Ridge today. ~0 deg at the lower lot around 9:00am. Broken skies. Moist snow right from the lot, dry well before we hit the hut. 150cm HS at Red Heather hut, crotch deep foot pen, 20cm ski pen. 200cm HS at ridgetop, same pen. No wind effect. Numerous small results had released just lee of the ridge and on some steep rolls further down the slope. All on steep features, mostly fracturing at convexities or between trees (see picture). Crowns ~5-10cm deep, ranging from 5-15m wide, leaving no deposits. We skied steep convexities all day and couldn't feel anything slabby. Besides the small wind layers, the snow felt very soft and unconsolidated, and there were no obvious layers as far down as our poles could go. Skies between broken and overcast all day, with ridgetop becoming obscured around 2pm at least until we left around 3pm. Winds were calm or very very light. The ski down to the lot was fast and fun. ~2 deg at the lower lot around 4pm.
