Quick Observation

-4.5C at parking lot this am. 4cm new snow overnight and 4cm new during our time out. Winds calm gusting light out of the SW. Ski quality was quite good up to treeline where we encountered the new snow sitting on top of old hard wind slabs in exposed terrain.

Snowpack

Repeatable moderate sudden collapse results down 15cm in column tests on facets, SE aspect, 2200m. No results on any other layers within the snowpack. Oct. 31 crust breaking down to the point where it was hard to identify. Distinct surface hoar up to 6mm observed down 8cm at treeline at this location.
