Skinning to Catherine’s pass we remotely triggered a slide on a north facing slope in the trees. Until then we had not seen much cracking or instability. However as we turned to the north facing aspect we noticed an immediate change. There was the tell tale cracking and whoomp sound as the slide broke about 50 meters ahead and above us. Slid for about 100 feet. We were protected by being on a ridge but seeing that convinced us to turn around and stay away from anything north facing.
