Snowpack

It is low tide out there in Hatcher Pass folks. Even skiing down the Pass road, if you strayed from the packed down road, you'd grind over gravel and rocks. With above knee high boot penetration in areas with more loose, faceted snow, we were able to feel rocks on the ground in shallower spots.

We have seen a significant amount of faceting in the last period of cold, dry conditions. In this location (towards Nixon's Nose off Hatcher Pass), previously wind effected terrain is loose and rightside up. We observed faceting in the top 5-10cm of avalanche debris across the road on the old Bennet's Ridge avalanche deposition pile.
