Observation: South Tony Grove

Saw a couple of small, loose wet avalanches that likely occurred over the warm holiday weekend. The smaller one covered up an older boot pack track.

South facing slopes were spring-like today with the few inches of new snow starting to get wet. Snow stayed cold and light on shaded or N facing slopes. 

Classic dust on crust conditions around the compass thanks to the warm holiday weekend and subsequent cool down. The shallow surface snow is soft but underneath is bullet proof. 2-3 feet of 1F-Pencil hardness. Surface snow (2-4") showing signs of faceting as well as harboring small surface hoar - will likely be our next weak layer. 

Snowpack is pretty stable right now. Still need to pay careful attention to what lurks underneath as rocks, etc. are not completely buried by any means. Conditions are still early season and generally thin.
