- Cracking, Poor Snowpack Structure
Poked around at the top of Logan Canyon. Lots of cracking as I made my way up. I could definitely feel a crust beneath but was not very supportable as I would break through from time to time. Depth of the snow was 30" @7800'. Dug a pit on an east face with an ECTP11 result. Failed on what appeared to be a melt/freeze crust about 14" down. Most of the snow is faceted with signs of surface hoar beginning to develop. Good turns can be had at sub 30° slopes.
