The snow below 4500’ has a strong melt/freeze effect (icy in the morning softer in the afternoon). 4500-5800’ had 6-18” of soft snow on top of an icy layer. 5800 and up had several inches of powder on top of a variably strong icy layer. Snow pit dug on a S aspect at 5400’: 270cm total depth The snowpack is generally right side up with the first 20cm being soft unconsolidated snow, sun crust at 35 cm, and well bonded slab below to at least 140cm. ECT N 16 @8cm planar failure ECT N 25 @25cm non planar failure Shovel shear broke at the sun crust at 35cm and within the slab at 80cm. Both non planar non propagating.
