Quick report

Went out to ski the mountaineers route on Whitney while the snow was still on the ground. We skinned up after crossing Lone Pine Creek around 9.2k ft and dealt with quite a mashed potato very unconsolidated snowpack until camp just above lower Boy Scout Lake. From there the skinning was quite reasonable as the snow has refrozen enough to warrant ski crampons as we headed up to the base of the line in the early hours. The chute itself was quite hard old wind board with some runnels with a ski width crux just below 14 k until the sunline where it softened considerably and was much more pleasant skiing all the way back to Lower Boy Scout. Below that however, the snow continued to be VERY un consolidated and inconsistent occasionally sinking 3-4ft into the snow with little to no warning.
