Quick report
Dug pits on E and NW aspects of Big Blue area; snowpack 70-100 cm. At both locations, compression tests resulted in Q2 fractures ~25cm below surface, just underneath the Dec 20 rain crust. ECTN at 25-30 taps on the same layer and in another layer just 5 cm below it. Moderate prior wind transport observed, which was generally unreactive or reacted stubbornly when ski cut. Generally good stability, with new snow bonding well to rain crust and no signs of dry loose activity. Compression but no propagation occurring just below the Dec. 20 rain crust. Windloaded slopes generally unreactive or cracking slightly in places.

Snowpack
Snowpack 70-100 cm. Surface hoar forming on top of the 15-20cm of new snow from Dec 22 and 23 on top of a 10-15 cm Dec 20 rain crust. Increasingly moist snowpack consisting of rounds above the early Dec rain crust; melt forms/faceting below that.
