Took Snow Creek road over Caribou Pass to Roman Nose Lakes. Parked at 2800’ on Snow Creek road. Road was thin but continuous from that point onwards. Will not last long if we have a run of warm weather. Road has not been groomed, and the whoops get progressively bigger as you get closer to Roman Nose Lakes. They are 2-3’ high on the final road to the lakes. Snow conditions down low were slushy. Up high it was old recycled powder, with apparent wind slab and scoured areas. Both myself and the guy I was riding with are new to snowmobiling so we just putzd around in the low angle trees and first lake. Watched some other guys highmark the slopes above the first lake. Saw a large crack in the snowpack about 30’ uphill from the first lake where the slope angle changes. Saw lots of evidence of aggressive wind transport but no slides observed. Most riders seemed to be keeping the terrain very conservative. Nice day in the mountains, although my body took a total beating in all the whoops.
