Our observations are consistent with the persistent slab problem being forecasted. Crossing the meadow near the base of the ridge we observed multiple whumpfs, likely caused by shallowly buried vegetation.

Snowpack

We performed a compression test and extended column test on an 18-degree slope on a due north aspect. Snowpack depth was 75-80cm. The results of the compression test were CT21 SP at 39cm below the snowpack surface between two slabs, interestingly above the crust-facet layer. The results of our extended column test were ECTP11 at 51cm below the snowpack surface, failing on the facet layer in one cohesive slab.
