Quick report

Cracking
widespread

Observed previous but recent cracking (perhaps overnight?). Dug two pits. One on SE aspect and another on a W aspect. In our SE aspect pit, we observed propagation with moderate force in our large column test (ECTP11 with sudden collapse). This fracture and propagation occurred on a layer of facets above a melt-freeze crust 55cm from the surface. In our W aspect pit. No propagation (ECTN15). However, we observed intact, well preserved buried surface hoar 55cm from the surface. No crust associated with this weak layer on this aspect. Fantastic skiing.

Avalanche

Saw a couple of recent very small (D1) slab avalanches involving the most recent storm snow on west aspects.
