Quick report
Overall impression of stability was ‘fairly stable’. We definitely found the rain crust below 6300ft but didn’t experience any wind slab on top of it. About 4-5” new snow above 6000ft, less as you traveled lower. Very cold all day, +5F at IWI when left the car, +10F when we got back, but the blustery winds made it feel colder. We skied cautiously due to considerable rating for today but were not disappointed with what Mother Nature provided. Early season conditions still exist on the trail and open creeks are prevalent where they are normally snowed over. About 20 trees left across trail from wind storm. If anyone wants to have a tree cutting party, we all benefit, baked goods may be provided.
