The Ramp

Today, our goal was to investigate the snowpack on east over north facing slopes in the Bridger Range looking for wind loading and the persistent weak layer near the bottom. 

We toured up the ramp to the ridge. While touring, we observed blowing snow on the ridge around saddle peak and the ridge line along the ski area. In wind loaded areas, we observed isolated cracking. We saw a natural D1 avalanche in Lazy Susan (outside the ski area between the north boundary and the ramp). 

Our snow stability tests and snow profiles showed, that the persistent weak layer still exists on east over north facing slopes, but it is less reactive compared with our last observations on Saddle Peak the past Monday.
The ECT results showed no propagation, but ECTNs at the upper melt freeze crust that formed over the warm days this past week.
