Quick Observation

Great day for pictures and rescue practice, but not a enough snow to make a good sledding day. In the Rain Gauge-Corbin area we found a total snow depth of 70cm at 2000m. There was evidence of cross loading from winds earlier in the week at upper elevations and directly lee of ridges. There was soft low density snow in the upper snowpack over a 40cm thick firmer layer. This overlies a weak layer of sugary loose facetted crystals and the early season Oct/Nov crust.
