A skier setting a skin track from West Porter toward “In Between” triggered an avalanche. The avalanche was large enough to run to the bottom of the path and pile debris into the trees.
I observed the skier beginning to set the skin track. On my next lap, I saw that an avalanche had occurred in the same area. I skinned to the bottom of the debris pile and conducted a beacon search just to be certain but did not receive a signal. It appeared that the skin track continued over the ridge.
