Retallack

staywildbackcountry, Saturday 8th February, 2025 10:38PM

Touring around Retallack the past two days. We dug a pit yesterday at 2200m and found two crusts. One was 47cm down and the second was 71 cm down. Our second compression test was in a shallower area and we got CTM 14 down 40 SP (this was the deeper crust but in a shallower area). The snow was great Sunday morning. Temps started to rise around 2pm. 0 degrees at 2000m at 2:30. Witnessed a natural size 3 across the valley around 2pm. NE aspect, could not see the start zone due to visibility. Of note was a step down in the track (shown in the pictures).
