Back of the Blunt

Capitalized on the recent road plowing to the back of the Blunt. 20-40cm of storm snow on top of the big warm up crust, unconsolidated in sheltered areas, starting to slab up in alpine. HS at 1500m variable, 110-140cm, much less in the dense trees. New snow appears to be bonding to crust interface with no results on CT, looked for but did not find the suspected surface hoar layer. Skied a gully feature and observed loose storm sloughing down to the crust surface but no propagation. Good ski quality but we didn’t ski much else due to wind and low vis. Early season hazards abound - open creeks, re-frozen tree bombs, stumps, etc. Very windy day, with wind affected snow even low down on roads and in the cutblocks (our skin track filled in by the end of the day in some spots!).
