16cm overnight and 258cm snowpack depth at the Fraser weather station. Strong NE winds at tree line and reactive windslabs were the story of the day.
The NE winds were moderate in the alpine, a relief from the wind apocalypse of the tree line world. Amongst a sea of sastrugi we found decent turns in sheltered terrain on an east aspect.
The day was dynamic with new reactive windslabs building at tree line and natural avalanches from wind loaded alpine gulley features (south aspects). Our sled tracks were filling in within the hour. Visibility improved in the afternoon but the NE winds kept cranking.
See our other MIN for reactive remote triggered avalanches / windslabs at tree line!
