Hasler

clintongould_23, Saturday 8th February, 2025 10:38PM

Observed a few signs of instability today in the Hasler. Earlier in the day we came across a small natural avalanche that lwas a day or 2 old. Newer snow that had slid on a hard crust likely caused by the cold snap. Later in the day a rider in our group remote triggered a slide that also slid on the same hard crust layer. In this case the area was wind loaded so the slab was thicker. Other riders in the area triggered similar slides. These slides we small but with some precip in the forecast I think there is potential for larger slides on this crust as new snow is not bonding well at this point. As far as the riding went we had a great day tracking down powder caches. Powder quality was surprisingly good in wind sheltered trees and meadows. So get into the trees and meadows and track down some good snow.
