Went out for a ski at Forum Ridge yesterday. The skiing was better than anticipated which was a nice suprise!
We pushed further south down the ridge but were cautious to avoid large open slopes that were getting loaded by the moderate to strong SW winds. It was snowing lightly most of the day and our tracks were getting mostly refilled by the wind on each lap. The Dec 22 crust was present to 1900m, although supportive to skiers below this and there was some high quality dust on the crust which made the skiing better down low.
We did a couple quick digs to check out the recent windslab development as well as test the Dec 22 crust. At 2100 m on NE asp we got CTH 23 RP results down 30 cms within the recent wind slab. (See snowpack tab for more detail). At 1800m we found the Dec 22 crust down 20 cms of recent storm snow. It was 4-5 cms thick. There were no test results on this crust as there is not much of a load on it quite yet. We did get CTM14 RP results down 55 cms on facets above what appears to be the Dec 9 crust.
