Good skiing in the alpine but careful terrain management was key given persistent weak layer of facets and depth hoar at the base of the snowpack. Rain crust and poor quality skiing below warming hut. Hasty pit dug at treeline below warming hut. Snowpack of 110cm, storm snow and old consolidated snow down 75cm and then large facets and depth hoar to ground, CT14 failure on surface hoar about 25cm down and sudden collapse down about 75cm on large weak faceted layer. Second CT4 in same pit with sudden collapse on facets and depth hoar down 75cm. </p>
