Visitor Safety Personnel observed this fairly large avalanche on Mt Fairview this morning. While visibility was limited Thursday, this slab is thought to be fairly fresh and was likely a result of the winds increasing Friday morning. This slab clearly involves the deep persistent weak layers and can be seen to have scrubbed down to the underlying scree on the northeast facing slopes of the alpine near the summit off Mt Fairview. While the slab originated at roughly 2700m, the extent of the debris was difficult to ascertain.
