Quick Observation
Remote triggered an avalanche off the Dome - more information in the avalanche tab.
Avalanche Information
Remote triggered an avalanche while skiing a SE slope off the dome at treeline. Remote triggered from a distance of approximately 10 m away laterally (avalanche triggered at about the same elevation but slightly more S). No signs of instability were observed leading up to this avalanche today or yesterday. Completed some hand shear tests while skinning up that did show cohesive slab properties in the recent storm snow. The avalanche crown at the start zone appeared to range in depth from 30 cm to 1 m deep, and propagated approx. 50 m to the south. The avalanche ran into the centre of the gully that separates the Dome from Pollywood. The avalanche also appeared to step down, with another crown (~20-30 cm thick) observed about 3/4 of the way down the runout in the bed surface. Did not take the time to closely observe the bed surface, however skiing through it felt like skiing on sugary grains overtop of a breakable crust.
