ECT at around 2250 m on SE aspect at ~1:30 pm Sunday. Dug my pit on a steep convex slope, and found 215 cm of snow. Depth was highly variable and in some other places showed less than 60 cm. Two failures, first occurred after 3 easy taps 30 cm down. Resistant planar failure. Second failure occurred after 9 easy taps 50 cm down. Resistant planar failure. In both cases the snow above the failures was quite loose and dry. No other planar failures observed, the rest of the column just crumbled away with medium and then hard taps. Snow deep down is not very dense and has very low snow hardness. (Didn’t test but would estimate fingers in glove hardness, even at deep depth).
