Group of 6 skinned up to Avalanche Crest for avy course. We identifed several sz 1 avalanches from the parking lot. Test results obtained at 2200m, SW aspect yielded CTM 14, sudden collapse at 25cm, ECT N, Rutschblock 5 whole at 25cm. Reassured by these results, we skied down the trimline of the upper slope. We found unexpected skier-triggered reactive slabs (multiple up to sz 1) over facets on unsupported sun crust on the upper slope. Adjusted to more conservative approach accordingly. Below the bench, the sun crust was still appreciable but much less reactive. Good reminder that spatial variability is real.
