Quick Observation
Great day skiing the Black Prince trees, approx 10 people in the area. Ski penetration 30cm+ when breaking trail. New snow was low density and unconsolidated - not slabby or cohesive. Probing with ski poles didn’t identify any obvious crusts or layers up to ~2250m. Notable wind effect above ~2250m, especially on north and east aspects of the upper ridge, creating a firm layer, which broke under ski weight without obvious whumpfs or shooting cracks. Exposed rocks at the ridge line. Winds were very calm to start the day, including at 2300m, but by noon there were strong SW gusts up high and obvious wind transfer occurring. Intermittent flurries. No accumulation by 1pm. Access and exit was no issue using the typical gully.
