Onions Layers.

While the wind stripped the Onions layers down, we layered up and got out to check on the new storm snow and the effect the wind was having on it. The trail in had us battling wind dunes but we found an undisturbed 20 cm of fresh snow hiding out in the first meadow. Other than this meadow however it seems the wind had its way with the new snow. From here we observed a few size 1/1.5 wind slabs in the alpine and tree line on NE and NW aspects. The NE winds have been strong here and were continuing to move any snow remaining into lee features. At tree line and alpine the new snow has been stripped back to the Jan 26 melt freeze crust or has been redistributed as wind slabs.
