- <p>We experienced both collapsing and cracking of the snow. Wind was transporting snow but drifts were shallow and stubborn.</p>
Did not find any crusts in test pits. Pits failed at the ground or on large grain facets about 15" from the ground on 1F snow. CT9-21. Travel was from 7700 to 10,000 ft. Skied NE thru N facing slopes up to 38 degrees in pitch.
Cracking continues out of view in both photos, wrapping around terrain features. It's a little hard to see in the bottom photo.
