Avalanche Information

Skied east facing slopes from 2,040 to 1,400 m. Triggered a skier accidental size 1 on the first unsupported feature where a crust could be felt (1,900 m, see photos). Minimal propagation (10 m) but significant entrainment of loose snow overlying the crust. Continued down, easily ski cutting unsupported features with similar results. At 1,650 m, the snow became moist. Ski cut a low angle (30 degree) convex roll in dense trees with impressive propagation. The crown jumped tree to tree and debris travelled a significant distance on low angle terrain. The avalanche was in close proximity to the standard uptrack route and in dense trees. However, a surface crust could already be felt on solar slopes. Cool overnight temps may end the issue.
