Quick Observation

Light to moderate winds at tree line out of the south/southwest. No signs of recent avalanches. Ski pen was 10-15cm. Surface crust present to approx 1660m. Skied two lines, the first being a north facing run from ridge line at 2250m. Great ski quality to about 1800m. The second run was a more west/northwest facing from ridge line at 2450m. Interesting that there was wind effect/drifts in the trees, well below tree line, due to the lack of windbreaks in the burned areas. Short periods of intense sun in the afternoon before some cloud cover moved in. Multiple settlements noted on our second ascent of a SW facing rib from 2200-2300m. Large cornices forming on typical lee sides of ridge lines.
