Today in Elkford we found 15 - 20 cm of soft snow that skied more like 50cm in sheltered areas where the new storm snow fell on previous soft snow. As we toured up we did a few tests in the upper snowpack to see how the new snow is bonding. There was very little wind effect so the storm slab was less touchy then we found yesterday in the Flathead with no shooting cracks. With winds in the forecast and a lot of light fluffy snow for transport we can expect to see wind slabs forming over the next few days. The skiing was very good...so good that we did another lap!
