Quick Observation
Yet another AST course in the Pine Pass! Our group stayed on the gasline, where at low elevation there was a solid surface crust that became breakable later in the day. Moderate to hard results in our pit on recent storm snow interfaces (HS ~130, HST 33 cm). No propagation in extended column. We could get isolated failures on unsupported test slopes, otherwise the snow was setting up well. We heard a second hand report of a sled-triggered avalanche on a wind-loaded feature on Saturday in the 'Salt and Pepper' area. Full, 1.5 m burial for ~4 minutes before successful companion rescue.
