East Knob Black Tusk Meadows

Sea to Sky

We dug an approximately 2.5 meter deep pit to checkout the multiple layers in the snowpack this season so far. When performing an isolated column test on a south facing aspect below the black tusk, we found propagation ~30cm deep on the 6th hit when using my whole shoulder. We also found a 4cm thick rain crust approximately 150cm deep. We decided due to the stormy conditions and variable snowpack to not ski slopes over 35 degrees.

Snow conditions were: Wind affected, Powder. Weather conditions were: Stormy, Windy, Warm, Cloudy. We rode: Alpine slopes, Dense trees, Open trees. Riding quality was amazing.
