Yukon

Trip to Summit weather station to knock the rime off the wind sensor. There was 35 cm of recent new snow, strong winds and warm temperatures (-2C). We found a reactive weak layer down 85 cm comprising of facets over a crust. In short, all the ingredients were present for an avalanche cycle. Unfortunately the visibility was poor so we were unable to see if there had been any recent avalanches. The best snow is on sheltered slopes.
