140cm HS lee side of ridge easterly aspect. 10cm of recent snow was sluffing in steep terrain at 2100m at this location. No crust evident here. Mid pack was supportive and 4F to 1F down to about 40cm. Below this was facets to ground. While supportive with SP at 15cm and BP at 30cm, the midpack had a sugary character to it. Grains did not seem rounded to the naked eye. Snowpack was thinner here than expected and maybe colder temperatures have been sucking the moisture here? I cut a column to the ground to test the base layer. CT25 failure in the depth facets about 30cm above ground.
